The Vagus Nerve - The Power of Soft
A calm, gentle, grounded massage targeting the nervous-system.
To help your body move out of stress & survival mode,
and back into rest, repair and recovery.

What is The Vagus Nerve?
Modern life keeps many of us stuck in a constant state of low-level stress. Over time this can look like: feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected from your body & life, unable to relax "always in go mode", digestive issues, poor sleep, tight shoulders and neck muscles, headaches & migraines etc.
The Vagus Nerve is the 10th cranial nerve and is important for regulating our parasympathetic nervous system. This is the rest and digest part of our nervous system which helps our body return to rest, repair and balance after being in stress/survival mode.
The Vagus Nerve is the main connection pathway between your brain and body. It plays a huge role in regulating:
- stress and relaxation
- heart rate and breathing
- digestion and gut health
- inflammation and immune response
- mood, emotional regulation and sleep
When your Vagus Nerve is working well, your body can move smoothly between activity and rest. When it's underactive or overwhelmed, you may feel stuck in tension, anxiety, fatigue or shutdown.

How does the Vagus Nerve Massage help?
Your brain is constantly listening to signals from your breath, your heart, your gut and your tissues. When our heart rate increases, our breathing is faster and our digestion switched off we are signalling to the brain that we are in a stress state.
The Vagus Nerve acts like a "superhighway" carrying most sensory signals from the body to the brain (about 80%) and commands from the brain back to the body (about 20%).
During the Vagus Nerve Massage we create conditions that help your body send messages of safety and rest. We work with breath, touch and softness, we're helping your body send messages to the brain that it's safe. When the brain receives those signals, it's more likely to shift out of stress mode and into rest, digestion and recovery.

Who is this massage helpful for?
My approach is shaped by years of working with bodies under stress - from busy parents, to people holding it all together, or maybe you are the one that notices the feelings of people in the room - an empath, to those feeling depleted and disconnected. The Vagus Nerve massage can be especially helpful for:
- Individuals with Stress, Anxiety, Burnout & Trauma: Helps lower cortisol, reduce tension and promote relaxation by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (rest/digest).
- People with Digestive Issues: Supports gut motility and can alleviate symptoms of bloating, constipation or diarrhoea linked to poor vagal tone.
- Those with Inflammatory Conditions: May reduce inflammation in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, or Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
- Individuals Experiencing Mood Disorders: Can help with depression and anxiety by influencing neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.
- People with Poor Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Improving vagal tone can enhance HRV, a marker of resilience to stress.
- Individuals navigating Peri-menopause & Hormonal Changes.
This work isn't about fixing symptoms but about helping your body remember how to feel safe and supported.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What if I don't relax during the session?
That's completely okay. In nervous-system focused work relaxation isn't the goal - safety is.
If you've ever been told to "just relax" and felt more tense instead, you're not alone. For many people, especially those who've lived with long-term stress, responsibility or overwhelm, the nervous system as learned to stay alert as a form of protection.
Relaxation emerges when the body feels safe. Every body and mind is different depending on our life story. It's like falling asleep, the harder you try the harder it is to fall asleep. The goal for the massage is that we send messages of safety to your nervous system - so all you need to do is lie on the massage table and receive gently, grounding touch.
Vagus Nerve massage is not about pushing your body into calm. It's about:
- meeting your nervous system where it is
- moving at a pace your body can tolerate
- allowing relaxation to unfold naturally, if and when it's ready
How might my body respond?
Some sessions feel deeply calming, other sessions maybe more subtle. All responses are valid. This work respects your body's timing - there is nothing to achieve and nothing to get right.
You may feel deeply relaxed, emotional, sleepy, or simply calm - all of these responses are normal.
What if one session doesn't help?
Nervous system change is often subtle and cumulative. While some people notice immediate shifts, others feel benefits gradually over a few sessions. Even when changes aren't obvious straight away, your body is still receiving signals of support and regulation.
Do I need to do anything special before or during the massage?
No. There's nothing to perform, control or achieve. You're welcome to rest, breath naturally or simply notice what you feel - or not notice anything at all.
Before the massage don't eat a lot of food or drink too much.
